What World Are We Living In?

This morning after eating a delicious breakfast provided by my sister, my dad was talking about the news. He had a Time magazine in his hand and the article was about the top ten things of 2008 whether it be top ten movies, songs, or memorable olympic moments. One of the lists, I forget which one, said that in one school in Massachusetts, 17 girls become pregnant around the same time. 17! It turns out that they had a brilliant idea which was let's all get pregnant at the same time, for fun! The other day my sister was telling me about how in an evergreen San Jose school, somebody burned a giant swastika on the school lawn and administrators were getting envelopes filled with an oderless white powder (remind anyone of a little something called anthrax). Luckily, the envelopes were filled with baby powder, but the idea of people doing that is horrible. That's not everything though, from a local gunshop, 150 guns were stolen. 150! Think about what kind of threat that would pose. On Monday and Tuesday, nobody came to school because of fear. The scary part is that Evergreen San Jose is so close to where we all live. The conditions we are living with are frightening, and I hope the world takes a change for the better. Soon.
